#What is a Circle in SimpliHome?

A Circle is your household group — the private space where your family's shared data lives. Everything in SimpliHome (calendar, bills, recipes, finances, files) is scoped to your Circle.

One Circle typically represents one household. You are either the Circle Owner (the person who created it) or a member who was invited to join.

#What is the difference between a Circle "user" and a Circle "member profile"?

    These are two distinct things:

    • Users are people with a SimpliHome login. They can sign in, access the app, and interact with Circle data based on their permission level.

    • Member profiles (Circle Members) are the people in your household — including children and anyone else who lives there, even if they don't have (or need) a SimpliHome login.

A child doesn't need their own login, but you can still create a member profile for them to track their school schedule, allergies, medications, and calendar events.

#How do I invite someone to join my Circle?

Inviting someone gives them a login and adds them to your Circle as an active user.

    1. Go to Settings → Circle Members
    2. Click Invite Member
    3. Enter their email address
    4. They receive an invitation email with a link to create their account and join

    This is an Admin-only action.

    #How do I add a household member who doesn't need a login?

Adding a member profile creates a person record in your Circle without requiring a SimpliHome login.

    1. Go to Circle → Members
    2. Click Add Member
    3. Enter their name and basic details

This is the right approach for children, elderly relatives who live with you, or anyone else whose information you want to track without giving them app access.

    #What permission levels are available?

    | Level | Who | What they can do | |-------|-----|-----------------| | Admin | Circle Owner + Secondary Admin | Full access to everything | | Family | Core household members | Create events and posts, upload files, see all content | | Relatives | Extended family | View public content only (read-only) | | Friends | Family friends | View public content only (read-only) |

The Circle Owner sets permission levels for all members.

    #How do I change a member's permission level?

Only the Circle Owner (circle_admin_1) can change permission levels.

    1. Go to Settings → Circle Members
    2. Click on the member
    3. Update their Permission Group
    4. Save

    #Can I have two admins?

Yes. The Circle Owner can assign one Secondary Admin (circle_admin_2). The Secondary Admin has near-full admin access — member management, bills, cars, houses, finances — but cannot change the subscription, assign/remove admins, or change permission groups.

To assign a Secondary Admin: go to Settings → Circle, and use the admin assignment option. This is a Circle Owner-only action.

#How do I remove a member from my Circle?

    1. Go to Settings → Circle Members
    2. Find the member
    3. Use the Remove option

This is an Admin-only action. Removing a user revokes their access to the Circle — they can no longer log in and see your household data.

#What personal information can I store for a Circle member?

Member profiles support a wide range of personal information:

    • Basic details — name, date of birth, gender
    • Contact details — address, phone number
    • Medical — blood group, medical providers
    • Allergies — individual allergy tracking
    • Prescriptions — current medications and dosages
    • Glasses prescriptions — optician details and prescription history
    • Passport details — passport number, expiry, country
    • School — school name, year group (for children)

None of this is required — add what's useful for your household.

#How do I add allergy information for a household member?

    1. Open the Circle Member's profile
    2. Go to the Allergies section
    3. Add each allergy (e.g., Peanuts, Gluten, Dairy)

Allergy data links to the recipe system — you can filter recipes to show only those that don't contain allergens affecting specific members.

#How do I record a prescription for a household member?

    1. Open the Circle Member's profile
    2. Go to the Prescriptions section
    3. Add the medication name, dosage, frequency, and any notes

You can track multiple prescriptions per member. This is particularly useful for elderly relatives or children with regular medications.

#Can I track passport details for household members?

Yes. In the member profile, go to the Passport section and enter:

    • Passport number
    • Issuing country
    • Issue date
    • Expiry date

SimpliHome can warn you when a passport is approaching expiry so you can renew in time before a holiday.

#How do I track which school a child attends?

In the member's profile, you can record school information including the school name and year group. You can also link calendar events to that child's schedule.
