    #What kinds of notifications does SimpliHome send?

    SimpliHome sends two types of notifications:

    Email reminders — sent ahead of important dates:

    • Bill renewal reminders
    • MOT expiry reminders
    • Vehicle road tax renewal reminders
    • Vehicle insurance expiry reminders
    • Household insurance policy renewal reminders
    • Upcoming calendar events
    • Weekly household summary

    In-app notifications — appear within the SimpliHome app:

    • New calendar events created by household members
    • New events created automatically via email intelligence (AI-parsed emails)
    • Other Circle activity relevant to you

    #How do I configure which notifications I receive?

    1. Go to Settings → Notifications
    2. Toggle each notification type on or off
    3. Save your preferences

    Each user configures their own notification preferences independently. One household member can receive all reminders while another turns most off.


    #How far in advance are renewal reminders sent?

    By default, renewal reminders are sent at 30 days before the renewal date, and again closer to the date. The exact timing is configurable in notification settings.

    Reminders are sent for:

    • Bills
    • MOTs
    • Road tax
    • Vehicle insurance
    • Household insurance policies

    #What is the weekly summary email?

    Once a week, SimpliHome can send you a summary email covering:

    • Upcoming events for the week ahead
    • Bills due soon
    • Any vehicle or insurance renewals approaching
    • Pending tasks

    It's a quick digest to keep you aware of what's coming without needing to log in. Toggle it on or off in notification settings.


    #I'm receiving too many notifications. How do I reduce them?

    Go to Settings → Notifications and turn off the notification types you don't want. Common choices:

    • Turn off the weekly summary if you check the app regularly
    • Turn off calendar event reminders if you're using Google Calendar sync with its own reminders
    • Keep bill and MOT renewal reminders on — these are the most high-value alerts

    #Can different household members have different notification settings?

    Yes. Each user in the Circle has their own notification preferences. The Circle Owner might want all reminders, while other family members only want calendar notifications.


    #I'm not receiving any emails. What should I check?

    1. Check your spam/junk folder — SimpliHome emails sometimes land there initially
    2. Add the SimpliHome sending domain to your contacts or safe senders list
    3. Confirm your notification settings at Settings → Notifications have the relevant options enabled
    4. Verify your email address is correct in Settings → Account

    If emails are consistently not arriving after these checks, contact support.


    #Can I receive push notifications on my phone?

    SimpliHome is currently a web application. Email is the primary notification channel for reminders. In-app notifications appear when you're using the app.

    Native push notifications on iOS and Android will be available when the mobile apps launch.


    #What are in-app notifications?

    In-app notifications appear as alerts within the SimpliHome interface. They notify you of activity within your Circle — such as a new calendar event being created, or the email intelligence system adding an event from a forwarded email.

    Access your in-app notifications from the notification icon in the navigation.


    #Can I mark in-app notifications as read?

    Yes. Open the notifications panel and mark individual notifications as read, or clear all at once.
