#What types of insurance can I track in SimpliHome?
SimpliHome's insurance section handles household insurance policies — everything except vehicle insurance, which is tracked within the individual car records. Policy types you can track include:
- Home insurance (buildings and/or contents)
- Life insurance
- Health / private medical insurance
- Travel insurance
- Pet insurance
- Income protection
- Critical illness cover
- Landlord insurance
- Any other policy type
#Who can manage insurance records?
Insurance management is an Admin-only feature (Circle Owner and Secondary Admin).
#How do I add an insurance policy?
- Go to Insurance in the navigation
- Click Add Policy
- Select the insurance type (home, life, health, etc.)
- Choose or add the provider
- Enter the policy number, start date, and renewal/end date
- Add the annual premium and any relevant notes
- Save
#How does SimpliHome remind me about insurance renewals?
Once you've added a policy with a renewal date, SimpliHome sends email reminders before the renewal is due. You'll receive reminders at 30 days out, giving you time to:
- Shop around for a better deal before auto-renewing
- Review your level of cover
- Contact the provider to discuss retention pricing
Configure reminder timing at Settings → Notifications.
#Can I upload policy documents?
Yes. Each insurance record has a Documents section where you can upload:
- Insurance schedule (the certificate of insurance)
- Policy wording document
- Renewal notices
- Correspondence with the provider
Having these stored in SimpliHome means you can find your policy documents instantly — particularly useful when you need to make a claim.
#Can I track multiple policies of the same type?
Yes. You can have as many insurance records as needed. For example, if you have two separate home insurance policies (family home and a rental property), each gets its own record.
#What is the difference between insurance in the Insurance section vs vehicle insurance on a car?
- Insurance section — for household-level policies (home, life, health, travel, pet, etc.)
- Car records — vehicle-specific insurance is tracked within each car's record alongside MOT, road tax, and breakdown cover
This keeps vehicle insurance in context with other car-related renewals, while non-vehicle policies live in the dedicated Insurance section.
#How do I update a policy after renewal?
Open the policy record and update:
- Renewal date — forward to the new renewal date
- Annual premium — if the price changed
- Policy number — if it changed (some providers issue a new number each year)
Upload the new policy schedule document to keep your records current.
#Can I track who each policy covers?
Yes. In the policy record, you can add notes about who is covered (useful for family health or travel insurance policies covering multiple household members).
