    #How do I add a calendar event?

    1. Go to Calendar in the navigation
    2. Click Add Event or click directly on a date in the calendar view
    3. Enter the event title, date, start and end time
    4. Optionally add a location and assign the event to a specific household member
    5. Choose whether the event is public (visible to all Circle members) or private (Admin and Family only)
    6. Click Save

You can also add events quickly from the dashboard using the + Add Event button on the Today's Events panel.

#Can I assign an event to a specific family member?

Yes. When creating or editing an event, use the Member field to assign it to a Circle member. This is particularly useful for tracking individual schedules — school runs, appointments, clubs, and activities — so you can see at a glance whose day is busy.

#What is the difference between a public and private event?

    • Public events are visible to everyone in your Circle, regardless of permission level
    • Private events are only visible to Admins and Family members

If you're adding a sensitive appointment (a medical appointment, for example) and only want household admins and close family to see it, mark it as private. Relatives and Friends on your Circle won't see it.

#How do I sync SimpliHome with Google Calendar?

    1. Go to Settings → Calendar
    2. Click Connect Google Calendar
    3. Authorise SimpliHome to access your Google account
    4. Your Google Calendar events will import into SimpliHome, and SimpliHome events will appear in Google Calendar

The sync is two-way: changes in either place reflect in the other. Read the full Calendar Sync guide for detailed setup instructions.

#How do I sync with Outlook / Microsoft Calendar?

    1. Go to Settings → Calendar
    2. Click Connect Outlook
    3. Sign in with your Microsoft account and grant permissions
    4. Events sync in both directions between SimpliHome and your Outlook calendar

#Can multiple household members each sync their own Google or Outlook calendar?

Yes. Each user in the Circle can connect their own Google or Outlook account independently. Each person's external calendar events appear in SimpliHome and are attributed to them.

    #What is an iCal feed?

An iCal feed is a standard calendar URL that any calendar app can subscribe to. SimpliHome generates a personal iCal feed for each user that can be added to Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, Outlook, or any other app that supports calendar subscriptions.

iCal feeds are read-only — subscribing to your SimpliHome feed means your external calendar displays your SimpliHome events, but changes must be made in SimpliHome directly.

To find your iCal feed URL: go to Settings → Calendar and look for the iCal feed option.

    #How do I create a recurring event?

When adding or editing an event, look for the Repeat or Recurrence option. You can set events to repeat:

    • Daily
    • Weekly (e.g., every Monday)
    • Monthly
    • Custom intervals

Recurring events appear on every scheduled occurrence in the calendar.

    #What are Calendar Schedules?

Schedules are named groupings for events — typically representing individual household members' calendars. For example, you might have a schedule called "Sarah's School" for school-related events, or "Work - Tom" for Tom's work schedule.

Schedules let you colour-code and filter the calendar to focus on specific people or activity types.

#Can I import events from another calendar app?

Yes. SimpliHome supports importing external calendars via:

    • Google Calendar sync — two-way live sync
    • Outlook sync — two-way live sync
    • iCal import — import a .ics file from any calendar app

For one-time imports from apps like Apple Calendar, export an .ics file from your other app and import it into SimpliHome.

    #Who can create calendar events?

    • Admins — can create, edit, and delete any event
    • Family members — can create events and edit their own events
    • Relatives and Friends — read-only; they can view public events but cannot create or edit

#Who can edit or delete an event?

    • Admins can edit or delete any event in the Circle
    • Family members can only edit or delete events they created

If you need an event edited but can't do it yourself, ask an Admin in your Circle.

#Why can't I see an event that another member told me about?

The event is likely marked as private. Private events are only visible to Admins and Family members. If your permission level is Relatives or Friends, you won't see private events.

Alternatively, the event may have been added to a personal schedule that isn't shared with your view. Ask the event creator to check the visibility setting.

    #Can I colour-code events by person?

Events are colour-coded by the household member they're assigned to. Each Circle member has an assigned colour, and their events appear in that colour on the calendar. You can see at a glance whose commitments are on any given day.

#Can I add a location to an event?

Yes. The event creation form includes a Location field. Adding a location is optional but useful — it can be referenced when planning travel and may appear in synced external calendars.

#How do I view the calendar as a week or month?

Use the view controls at the top of the calendar page to switch between:

    • Day view — a single day's schedule
    • Week view — a 7-day overview
    • Month view — the full month at a glance

The default view can differ based on your preference.

#Where can I learn more about the calendar?

Read the full Family Calendar guide and the Calendar Sync guide for comprehensive walkthroughs.
