#Who can manage bills in SimpliHome?
Bills are managed by Admins (Circle Owner and Secondary Admin). Family members, Relatives, and Friends cannot add, edit, or delete bills.
If you need a bill added or updated and you're not an Admin, ask your Circle Owner or Secondary Admin.
#How do I add a bill?
- Go to Bills in the navigation
- Click Add Bill
- Select the provider (e.g., British Gas, Sky) — or type the name to add a new one
- Choose the bill type (Energy, Broadband, Mobile, Insurance, etc.)
- Enter the renewal date and annual cost
- Add your account reference (found on any statement)
- Optionally link to a house if you have multiple properties
- Click Save
#What information should I record for each bill?
At minimum:
- Provider — the company name
- Bill type — what the bill covers
- Renewal date — when it's due to renew or expire
Additional fields that significantly improve usefulness:
- Account reference — your account number with the provider
- Annual cost — used in budget calculations
- Payment date — for bills with a fixed monthly payment date
- Notes — tariff name, contract terms, any useful details
- Documents — upload your latest invoice or policy schedule
#How do renewal reminders work?
SimpliHome automatically sends you email reminders before a bill is due to renew. You'll receive alerts at 30 days, and again closer to the renewal date.
This gives you time to:
- Shop around before auto-renewal onto a standard rate
- Cancel if you no longer need the service
- Negotiate a retention deal with your current provider
Configure how far in advance you receive reminders at Settings → Notifications.
#The bill has auto-renewed. How do I update the renewal date?
- Open the bill record
- Edit the renewal date field to the new renewal date (typically one year forward)
- Update the annual cost if the price changed
- Save
Keeping renewal dates current ensures the dashboard and reminders stay accurate.
#Can I track meter readings in SimpliHome?
Yes, for energy and water bills. Open the relevant bill record and look for the Add Meter Reading option. Enter the current reading and date.
SimpliHome builds a history of readings over time, showing:
- Usage trends by month and season
- Whether consumption is increasing or decreasing
- A history to refer back to when switching supplier
#What provider integrations are available?
SimpliHome can sync data automatically with several major UK providers:

To connect a provider, open the bill record and look for the Sync or Connect Account option. Enter your provider credentials and SimpliHome will sync automatically.
#Can I upload invoices and documents to a bill?
Yes. Open a bill record and use the Upload Document option to attach:
- PDF invoices and statements
- Policy documents
- Contract copies
- Any other relevant file
Documents are attached to the bill record and accessible whenever you open it — no more digging through email for last year's energy statement.
#Can I link a bill to a specific property?
Yes. If your Circle has more than one property, use the House dropdown when adding or editing a bill to link it to the relevant property. This lets you see all bills associated with each property separately.
#A provider isn't in the list. Can I add one?
Yes. When adding a bill, type the provider name in the provider field. If it's not found, choose Add new provider to create it. The new provider will be saved for future use.
#What bill types are available?
Common categories include:

If you need a new bill type, any Admin can create one.
#How do bills feed into the financial overview?
Bills with annual costs contribute to the household's budget projections in the finances section. Upcoming bills also appear on the Admin dashboard in the bills panel so renewals are always visible at a glance.
The more accurate your bill costs, the more useful the financial overview becomes.
#Can I delete a bill?
Yes. Open the bill record and use the Delete option. Consider whether you want to delete permanently or simply update the record — if the bill might come back (a paused subscription, for example), updating is better than deleting.
