#What AI Email Intelligence Does
When you forward an email to your SimpliHome address, the system:
- Classifies the email — determines what type of information it contains
- Extracts the key details — dates, times, locations, people, account numbers, dosages
- Matches to your Circle — connects the information to the right household member, schedule, or property
- Creates the record automatically — adds it to your calendar, bills list, or health records
- Sends you a notification — lets your Circle know what was added
The whole process happens in the background, typically within a minute or two of forwarding the email.
#What Types of Emails Does It Handle?
SimpliHome's AI can process a wide range of email types:
#Calendar Events
Examples:
- Doctor, dentist, optician appointment confirmations
- School event notifications
- Sports fixture confirmations
- Holiday booking confirmations

- Concert or event ticket confirmation emails
What gets extracted:
- Event title
- Date and time (or all-day if applicable)
- Location or address
- Which household member it's for (matched by name in the email)

#How to Set It Up
AI Email Intelligence is a Gold plan feature. If you're on the Gold plan, here's how to activate it.
#Step 1: Find Your Circle's Email Address
- Log in to SimpliHome
- Go to Settings → Email Intelligence
- You'll see your unique Circle email address — something like
circle-abc123@mail.simplihome.co.uk
This address is private to your Circle. Only forward emails to it from email addresses associated with your SimpliHome account.
#Step 2: Enable the Feature
On the same Settings page:
- Toggle AI Email Intelligence to On
- Optionally adjust the confidence threshold — the minimum confidence level required before the AI auto-creates a record (default is 75%)
- Save your settings
What the confidence threshold means:
The AI scores each extraction with a confidence level. If it's confident it correctly understood the email, it creates the record automatically. If it's less certain, it sends you a notification asking you to confirm the details before they're saved. You can raise or lower this threshold to match your preference.
#Step 3: Forward Your First Email
From any email you'd like SimpliHome to process:
- Tap Forward in your email client
- Enter your Circle's SimpliHome email address as the recipient
- Send
That's it. In a minute or two, check your SimpliHome dashboard or calendar to see the new record.

#Tips for Best Results
Be selective with what you forward. AI Email Intelligence is designed for emails that contain actionable household information. Forwards every newsletter or promotional email and the AI will have to work to classify them. Forward appointment confirmations, bills, and similar transactional emails for the best experience.
Make sure your name is in the email. When an email mentions a person's name, SimpliHome uses that to assign the record to the right household member. If an appointment email says "for Emma" and you have an Emma in your Circle, it'll be assigned to her automatically.
Use it immediately after it arrives. Forward emails as soon as they land in your inbox, while the information is fresh and the email contains accurate dates. Forwarding month-old emails can occasionally cause confusion with relative date references ("tomorrow", "next week").
Trust the low-confidence notifications. When SimpliHome isn't fully confident about an extraction, it sends you a review notification instead of creating the record automatically. Take 30 seconds to confirm or dismiss these — it only happens when the AI is genuinely unsure.
Set up email filters to forward automatically. Most email clients (Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail) allow you to create filters that auto-forward emails matching certain criteria. You could set Gmail to automatically forward any email from your energy supplier, doctor's surgery, or school to your SimpliHome address — zero effort required.
#Setting Up Gmail Auto-Forwarding (Optional)
To automatically forward appointment confirmations from specific senders:
- In Gmail, click the gear icon → See all settings
- Go to Filters and Blocked Addresses → Create a new filter
- In the From field, enter the sender's email address (e.g.,
noreply@nhsappointments.nhs.uk) - Click Create filter
- Tick Forward it to and enter your SimpliHome Circle email address
- Click Create filter
Repeat for any senders you want to automatically forward.
#Privacy and Security
Your forwarded emails are processed securely:
- Emails are processed by AI and then deleted — they are not stored permanently
- Only the extracted data (event title, date, location, etc.) is saved to your Circle
- Your SimpliHome email address is unique to your Circle and not public
- Processing uses encrypted connections throughout
The AI reads the email content to extract information — it does not store the original email text in SimpliHome, only the structured data that was extracted.
#What Happens With Low Confidence Extractions?
When the AI isn't sure it's correctly understood an email, rather than create a potentially wrong record, it:
- Sends you an in-app notification with what it extracted
- Shows you the proposed record details
- Gives you a Confirm or Dismiss option
If you confirm, the record is created. If you dismiss, nothing is added to your Circle.
This review flow also triggers for unusual or ambiguous emails — for example, an email that mentions multiple potential dates, or where the AI isn't certain whether something is a bill or a one-off payment.
