When you log in to SimpliHome, the dashboard is the first thing you see. It's designed to answer the question every household member asks every day: "What do I need to know right now?"
But the dashboard isn't the same for everyone. It adapts to your role in the household — Admins see the full financial picture, Family members get a focused activity view, and Relatives and Friends are directed to the news feed. This guide explains what each section shows and how to use it effectively.
#The Admin Dashboard
If you're the Circle Owner or Secondary Admin, your dashboard is the most information-dense view in SimpliHome. Everything important is surfaced at a glance.
#Today's Calendar Events
The first panel shows events scheduled for today across all household members, with colour-coding by person.
What you'll see:
- Event title and time
- Which household member the event belongs to (by colour and name)
- Location, if added
- A quick link to the full calendar
Quick actions: Admins and Family members see a + Add Event button directly on this panel — tap it to create a new event without navigating away from the dashboard.
#Upcoming Bills & Renewals
The bills panel shows any bills due within the next 30 days, sorted by urgency.
What you'll see:
- Bill provider and type
- Days until renewal
- Estimated amount
- A direct link to the bill record
Bills approaching their renewal date are highlighted so you can take action before they auto-renew or lapse.
#Financial Overview (Admin Only)
Admins see a financial summary panel showing:
- Total balance across all connected bank accounts
- Month-to-date spending vs. budget
- Recent transactions
This panel is only visible to Admins. Family members see the dashboard without financial data.
#Tasks Due Soon
Pending tasks from your Circle's to-do lists that are due today or overdue.
Quick action: A + Add Task button lets you quickly add to the default list without leaving the dashboard.
#Vehicle Renewals
Any upcoming MOT, road tax, or insurance expiry dates for vehicles registered in your Circle.
#News Feed Preview
The most recent posts from your Circle's news feed — quick updates, notes, and activity from household members.
#The Family Dashboard
Family members (not Admins) see a simplified dashboard focused on daily activity rather than household management.
What's shown:
- Today's calendar events
- Tasks due soon
- News feed
What's not shown:
- Bills and renewals
- Financial overview
- Vehicle renewals
This keeps the dashboard relevant and uncluttered for family members who aren't responsible for household management tasks.
#Relatives and Friends
Members with Relatives or Friends permission are redirected to the News Feed rather than the dashboard. Their access is read-only and focused on staying updated on household activity rather than managing it.

#Check It First Thing
The dashboard is designed to be your morning briefing. Spending 60 seconds on it each morning tells you:
- What's happening today
- What's due soon (bills, MOTs, tasks)
- What the household has been up to
#Act on Urgent Items Immediately
The dashboard surfaces urgency — bills due in 3 days, overdue tasks, an MOT expiring next week. When you see something urgent, deal with it from the dashboard rather than making a note to come back to it.
#Use It as Your Homepage
Add SimpliHome to your phone's home screen and the dashboard becomes your household app in the truest sense — one tap, instant household overview.
#Navigation From the Dashboard
Every panel on the dashboard links to the full feature:
- Events panel → Full calendar
- Bills panel → Bills management
